What is an HVAC Mechanical Design?

Think of the mechanical design as the blueprint for your HVAC project. Some items included are the HVAC system and accessory schedules, code compliance notes, duct system routing, register/grille sizes and locations, fresh air ventilation specifications, utility ventilation (clothes dryer, exhaust fan, kitchen hood), and more!

When is a mechanical design required?

In southern Arizona (and most other municipalities across the US), ACCA Manual J-S-D reports and matching mechanical designs are required to obtain an HVAC project permit for any residential new construction, remodel, or addition project.

Mechanical designs that don’t start with ACCA Manual J-S-D calculation reports are just guesswork. Don’t gamble with your indoor comfort!
